Not everyone can travel to Kathmandu for a full-time class — and you shouldn't have to. Our online caregiver training is designed for working adults, parents, and learners in remote districts who want the same quality of instruction with the flexibility to study from home.
What online training looks like at Shalom
This isn't a folder of PDFs and a quiz at the end. Every module combines short video lessons, live weekly sessions with an instructor, downloadable reference sheets, and skill checks you complete on camera so the trainer can give real feedback.
What you'll learn
- Personal care fundamentals — bathing, grooming, dressing, oral and skin care
- Safe mobility — transfers, repositioning, fall prevention, mobility aids
- Vital signs and observation — blood pressure, pulse, temperature, when to escalate
- Nutrition and feeding — meal planning, special diets, safe feeding techniques
- Medication assistance — schedules, storage, recognising side effects
- Dementia and elderly care — communication, behaviour, dignity
- Hygiene and infection control — handwashing, PPE, soiled-linen handling
- Communication with families and doctors
How the schedule works
- Watch the week's recorded lessons whenever it suits you.
- Attend one live session per week (evenings, so it doesn't clash with work).
- Complete a short practical task — record yourself doing it, upload the clip.
- Get personal feedback from your trainer within 48 hours.
What you need to join
- A smartphone or laptop with a working camera
- A stable internet connection for the live session
- Around 6 – 8 hours per week for the duration of the course
Certificate and next steps
Pass the final skills assessment and you receive the same Shalom Caregivers certificate as our in-person students. We also help you build a CV that highlights the practical skills employers actually search for — whether you're applying to a home-care agency in Kathmandu or a placement abroad.
"Online learning works when it's built around real practice, not just videos. That's exactly what we've designed for."
Start this month
New online batches open every few weeks. Reach out and we'll send you the next start date, the fee, and the simple registration form. You can be in your first lesson within seven days.
